In 2006 adults ≥ 65 made up 7% of the county’s population
• By 2030 the population 65 and older will increase 259% to 208,297. This group will make up 14% of the total county’s population. This is one of the largest projected increases.
• Compared to the state, older adults are better educated, fewer live in rural areas, there are more baby boomers, less disability, and similar racial distribution.
• The median income for all age groups is at least 10,000 higher than the state.
• The YMCA and Cary Senior Center offer financial assistance and free programs.
