• By 2030 the population 65 and older will increase 50% to 20,723 people. This group will make up 22% of the county’s population.
• Compared to the state, older adults are less educated, 59% live in rural areas, there is a similar racial distribution and 27% have two or more disabilities.
• The median income is slightly lower than the state, with 18% of adults over 75 below the poverty level.
• There were 6 Code Orange days in 2006.
• Arthritis is a common chronic condition, accounting for 12% of all physician visits.
