In 2006 adults ≥ 65 made up 11% of the county’s population
• By 2030 the population age 65 and older will increase 90% to 98,071 people. This group will make up 17% of the county’s population.
• Compared to the state, older adults have similar demographics; residents are better educated, fewer live in rural areas (16%), and there is less disability.
• The median income for the age 65-74 and age 75+ groups is significantly higher, and fewer older adults are at or below the poverty level.
• Reasons for hospitalization and physicians visits are similar to the state.
