• By 2030 the population age 65 and older will increase 116% to 12,998 people. This group will make up 18% of the county’s population.
• Compared to the state, older adults are less educated, have slightly more disabilities, greater numbers live in rural areas (65%), 34% are African American, and there are more baby boomers.
• The median income is slightly less than the state, and slightly more individuals are at or below the poverty level.
• Health conditions in this county are similar to the state.
