Health Promotion Programming

In 2006 adults ≥ 65 made up 12% of the county’s population

• By 2030 the population age 65 and older will increase 93% to 80,021 people. This group will make up 18% of the county’s population.
• Older adults have similar demographics to the state but are slightly better educated, fewer live in rural areas, and have less disability.
• The median income is slightly higher, and fewer older adults are at the poverty level.
•There are fewer hospitalizations due to heart disease compared to the state.
