In 2006 adults ≥ 65 made up 14% of the county’s population
• By 2030 the population age 65 and older will increase 51% to 19,776 people. This group will make up 19% of the county’s population.
• Compared to the state, older adults have similar demographics, education, and numbers of disabilities, and more (55%) live in rural areas.
• The median income is lower than the state, and more individuals, especially those aged 75+, are at or below the poverty level.
• Arthritis and diabetes account for 20% of physician visits.
