Health Promotion Programming

In 2006 adults ≥ 65 made up 14% of the county’s population

• By 2030 the population age 65 and older will increase 40% to 17,186 people. This population javascript:void(0)will make up 18% of the county’s population.
• Compared to the state, older adults are less educated, 46% live in rural areas, 94% are white, and 25% have at least two disabilities.
• The median income is less for the 75+ population and there are greater numbers of older adults who are at or below the poverty level.
• There are more hospitalizations due to heart disease.
